Investors in People specialises in transforming business performance through people. Their mission is to help businesses achieve results by focusing their work on the objectives of the business. They act as a critical friend, so that we maintain continuous improvement.
At the heart of Investors in People is the standard – a framework of best practice that is outcome focused. It outlines what needs to be achieved, without prescribing how. Independent assessments track progress, enabling status as an accredited Investors in People organisation and bringing a wide range of benefits. Assessments are interview based.
Here are some excerpts from the report:
‘Language Empire is clearly a well-led and managed organisation under the direction of a very capable CEO. His clarity of vision, determination and unrelenting drive has set the scene for this successful language organisation. The CEO has sifted, recruited and built a capable and committed team of individuals forming the core of this successful organisation and they in turn are perpetuating and carrying forward his vision for this company’s future aspirations through others in the company.’
‘The company has established a range of core values, which support its vision and describe its key to success. These values are documented and form part of the Empire Group Vision Statement 2012. On this basis, such issues as Customer Service are continually at the forefront of all customer/ client interactions and are considered critical to the success of the company.’
‘During this Assessment, many examples of organisational strength, good business practice and people management practice were observed.
- The business development strategies, the HR related policies and working procedures in place conducive to high performance working are exemplary and are all shared with staff, inviting comment and suggestions from anyone with good ideas for improvement.
- The regularity of management meetings and performance reviews against target held monthly and sometimes weekly with the outcome being cascaded down to all staff keeping people engaged and informed at all times.
- The quality and calibre of staff in the company selected, recruited and developed in their roles is testament to good people/ HR management techniques. The unconditional help support and encouragement they provide to one another is another example of good, family based, working relationships.
- The Assessor was made aware of the widespread application in the concept of ‘learning in the job’ practiced by senior staff in the organisation and this includes the CEO. This undoubtedly is an effective method of organisational development in which learning and development is specifically tailored to each individual in their role. This process has many benefits including the re-learning of the subject matter each time a trainer delivers the subject to reinforce his or her knowledge and skills. It is also appreciated that other learning and development takes place at the local college or in-house using specialist trainers’.
We achieved our Investors in People Standard in April 2012 and it is clear from the information in the report we value and actively promote core values and practices throughout the organisation. Our aim for 2013 is that all staff will be funded to complete four training courses at the expense of the organisation to ensure the continued professional development needs of everyone are met.
All training and development is a two way process and Language Empire holds the belief that each member of staff is key to business continuity, growth and the business vision of the company. All members of staff are valued by everyone and the work they carry out is of a very high standard.
